ABOUT PISCATAWAY DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CRISIS INTERVENTION TEAM
The goals of the Piscataway DVCIT are to break the cycle of abuse through prevention, education, crisis management, and by giving a voice to those who have been suffering in silence.
For over 20 years, our trained and certified volunteers, have been first responders to domestic violence emergencies. We provide supportive counseling, as well as establish a cooperative effort between victims and family service providers, local police departments, and neighboring community partners to help victims and their children.
We strive to sustain and add to our list of groundbreaking presentations, like the Yellow Dress and Remote Control, which educate children and teens in Piscataway schools about the dynamics of domestic violence, the pitfalls of dating violence, and the skills to recognize and build healthy relationships. Additionally, we award $1000 scholarships to recognize students who have overcome tremendous obstacles and challenges. We hope that one day our programs will lessen the dire need for emergency services in years to come.
